I know it doesn't reflect on Vancouver but it does effect Canadians . Anyone here about the river of shit that is slowly floating from the United States to Lake Ontario . A retaining wall for liquid cow maneur located next to the river broke and relesed several tons of crap into the system . Guess where it is heading . I think it is literally enough shit from the US .

But on the same note, Victoria is also pouring out some 45 billion litres/yr of raw sewage off the coast and, we already know its affected marine life and the waters down in the US (Washington directly). What is happening in Victoria is nothing to be proud of.

What happened near Lake Ontario is an accident -- what we're doing here isn't.

Yeah but there's 10 times more people in the US than Canada, so re-calculate those pollution figures on a per-capita basis and it doesn't look all that rosy for the Canucks.

I'm not quite sure how that can be measured appropriately. Their population is a lot bigger than ours so of course they put out more shit.

I'm with Eve and Co on this one. We're not all saints up here. Victoria's shit problem is a disgrace. Just because most of us get all anal retentive about recyling every last toilet roll, doesn't mean that we aren't huge polluters. I think there are many of us who suffer from the effects of too much space, clean air and natural beauty, by which I mean that one could argue that polluting this country is harder to do due there being less people and more nature. I think that many Canadians think of Canada in the same way as a determined alcoholic thinks of a freshly transpalnted liver! All those trees to absorb my SUV juice.... I don't need to curb my consumption...

Everyone needs to be conscious about consumption this is no new thing . Canadian or Scandinavians or Pygmies we have but one planet . My issue is that if Canada does anything wrong the Americans shut down the border and screw us over yet like the Red River issue where they plan to dump dead lake water into the system it doesn't seem to matter for them . Or in Sumas and setting up coal electrical plants because the smoke flows into Canada this kind of stuff is ridiculous . I just am merely trying to point out that I am tired of putting up with one way border policies . It is all right for us to have to tolerate them but it would be blue murder if it were the other way around number or not !
