For those who know and forgot, this Saturday, March 22nd, is International Pillow Fight Day. The Vancouver Pillow Fight is going on at 3pm at the Art Gallery. There is more info in the events tab of this tribe.
For those who have never been to one of these, they are massive fun!! A whole mass of folks (anyone who wanna who brings a pillow) get together and at 3pm we all pillow fight. The one I went to before had hundreds of folks and was a super crazy exhilirating step out of the everyday and back into the wildness of childhood. Feathers flying, peals of laughter, and friendly whomping. What a lovely way to take a few hours away from normal with your fellow citydwellers!

Re: Yay for Global Pillow Fights!!
Wed, March 19, 2008 - 3:30 PMHeads up that there is a rally for Tibet on the North Side of the VAG beginning at 12 noon. I urge everyone to please be respectful of that rally if it is still going on. Given the riots and chaos in Lhasa - a free for all pillow fight might not land well for some. -

Re: Yay for Global Pillow Fights!!
Fri, March 21, 2008 - 2:15 AMThe Pillow Fight has been organized for a long time. Perhaps it would be good if the Tibet rally brought some caution tape or something so pillow fighters know not to transgress on that space. I've not been to the pillow fight here in Van, but in SF it was pretty much in all one big mass and only those in the melee area got whomped. -

Re: Yay for Global Pillow Fights!!
Fri, March 21, 2008 - 12:36 PMThe Tibet Rally is at noon on the north side. The pillow fight is 3 on the south side. (Or so I am told) So strongly hoping that this isn't an issue. I know the pillow fight is not something that can be organized ... so I'm just posting in all places that pillow fighters might see to appeal to common sense and good judgement on the day of.
This isn't just about who transgresses on who's space - but about sensitivity to the bigger picture. I think it is up to each individual to judge for themselves the appropriateness of creating a chaotic riotous pillowfight - so close to a peaceful rally aimed at protesting chaotic riots and bloodshed in Tibet. Who knows - maybe it will make sense on the day.... but just wanted to encourage some awareness and sensitivity on the day. My 2 cents. -

Re: Yay for Global Pillow Fights!!
Sun, March 23, 2008 - 11:17 AMI missed out on the pillow fight fun this time but I was there later to see the mess that it left behind. Caring citizens should be able to have fun like this in our city but they should also take responsibility for their actions and clean up afterwards. It's great to have events like this but cleaning up has to be a part of the event if we care about the environment and respect other people.
